Garden Design
I specialise in creating a garden design
that gives you the garden you want. I use your existing space to
its very best advantage.
What is the design process?
A free initial consultation to discuss ideas
and for me to see the garden space. Followed by a fixed quote .If
accepted, I visit the garden again to take a full site survey, soil
samples and working photographs. I also take detailed notes on what
you want from the finished garden, ask you and other members of
your family lots of questions, and kick a few ideas around with
you. It is at this stage that the client brief is finalized covering
such topics as:-
- The budget for the scheme.
- Special features such as water, lighting , garden sculptures
and other features.
- Issues unique to the site, for example the need to screen an
unsightly view, or the need to promote privacy in a corner plot
on a busy main road.
- Level of maintenance the client wishes the garden to require.
A cottage garden with Box topiary is going to need an awful lot
of maintaining, whereas a paved area with the occasional dramatic
feature plant, imaginative lighting, reflections on water, and
stylistic focal points can look just as stunning but be 1/10th
of the work.
- Client's favourite plants and pet hates.
- The colour scheme.
The finished design will comprise of:-
- A complete design hand drawn to scale, detailing the hard landscaping
and any building specifications, plus a list of volumes and costs
for you or your builder to work from.
- A planting plan detailing the position, number, and full name
of all the plants in the garden. A separate purchase list is also
provided.
- A maintenance plan tailor made to your new garden gives seasonal
information on how to care for your plants.
Liaison over building of hard landscaping
If you decide to employ a builder to carry
out the hard landscaping for the design, I offer a liaison service
to ensure the correct implementation of your plan. |
